If I Can’t Dance Tonight
Frascati, Nes 63
1012 KD Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Commissioned by IICD – If I Can't Dance
The setting for the performance was assembled with materials I transported in a suitcase, supplemented by additional purchases made on-site. During the evening, small groups of spectators navigated through a dense forest of transparent and opaque coloured partitions suspended from the ceiling, some of which rotated in place. As visitors left the space, they ascended to the balcony and entered the control room, offering an aerial view of the stage. Meanwhile, a performer entered the stage and expertly manoeuvred through the labyrinth on a racing bike, with a card in the spokes creating a distinct sound that resonated throughout the space.
